1911 Living at Durrent Farm, Northchurch, Berkhamstead (age 25 born Newton Longville, Bletchley) a Motor Engineer at Godfrey Nash, Hendon. With his widowed (married for 28 years) mother Gertrude Mary Burney (age 53 born Newton, Derbyshire), and with his brother Cecil Stanley Burney (age 26 born Cookham Dean), a Motor Engineer at Rudge-Whitworth, Coventry. Two servants. [1]

c.1913 Formed Burney and Blackburne with his brother Cecil, which made motorcycles.

1919 Engagement announced between Edward Alexander Burney, late Captain, RASC, younger son of the late James Edward Burney and of Mrs. Burney, Northchurch, Berkhampstead, and Eileen Mary Gates, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gates of Hove. [2]
