Edward Arnott Clowes (1851–1911) of William Clowes and Sons, Duke Street, Stamford Street, London, S.E.
William Clowes the younger sent his nephew Edward Arnott Clowes to America to bring back the most modern printing machinery. This led to the introduction of the Monotype machine, subsequently widely used by British book printers; the Clowes firm became known for its expertise in composition.
