EDWARD CYPRIAN DAUBENY was a pupil of Mr. G. J. Churchward at Swindon. He joined the Great Western Railway after being educated at Cheltenham College and Victoria University, Manchester.

After spending two years as draughtsman at Swindon he went to India as engineer assistant to various indigo firms.

In 1912 he was appointed assistant district locomotive superintendent on the East Indian Railway, and in 1916 became locomotive, carriage and wagon superintendent of the Barsi Light Railway.

In 1922 he was appointed to a similar position on the Baroda State Railways, but resigned the appointment in the following year, owing to failing health, and returned to England.

Mr. Daubeny, who became a Member of the Institution in 1918, died on 26th November 1927, at the age of 43.
