EDWARD ERNEST BRAY, whose death occurred on 15th December 1951, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1922.

He was born in 1882 and obtained his practical training at the Warwick Engineering Works of Cooper and White, Ltd., Deptford, from 1899 to 1904.

After several years at sea as marine engineer in vessels of the Tyser Line and Bucknalls, Ltd., during which he rose from fifth to third engineer and obtained a second-class Board of Trade Certificate, he joined Thames Board Mills, Ltd., as a shift engineer and remained with the firm for the rest of his active life. He was made assistant to the chief engineer in 1915 and was employed in the drawing office on design and layout for extensions. After acting for some years as engineer-in-charge of power plant he was promoted to his final position as chief engineer in 1922.
