EDWARD FRANCKEL, born at Gothenburg on the 17th December, 1836, died at Stockholm on the 4th February, 1912.
On completing his studies, he entered the Swedish Government Railways service, in which he remained until 1873.
He was then successively Managing Director of the Atlas Works, Stockholm, and Agent in Sweden for the petroleum firm of Nobel Brothers.
He was a member of the Upper House of the Swedish Parliament, and held several Swedish and foreign decorations.
Mr. Franckel was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 6th December, 1884.
