1882 'Yesterday morning over 1,000 dyers and pressers in the employ of Sir Henry Ripley and Sons, Bowling Dye Works, Bradford, struck work against a proposed reduction of 10 per cent. The men proceeded to other large works, at which notices of a similar reduction had been given. The police have grave apprehensions of trouble.'[1]
