1881 Living at Gledhow Lane, Chapel Allerton: Edward Schunck (age 65 born Leipzig, naturalised British), Yarn and Stuff Merchant. With his wife Kate, son John Edward and two daughters.[1]
1889 Died. 'The late Mr. Edward Schunck, of Gledhow Wood, head of the firm of Messrs. Schunck and Co., stuff, woollen, and yarn manufacturers, Leeds, who died the 5th instant, at Mentone, where he had gone to escape the rigours an English spring, was buried on Wednesday at Round hay. The respect in which the deceased gentleman was held was shown by the large attendance at the funeral, though the weather was very inclement. Mr. Schunck's remains, enclosed in an olive-wood shell, had been brought from Mentone the previous evening, and they were placed in the library, number of beautiful wreaths sent by various relatives and friends being strewn over the coffin. long of private carriages joined the procession.'[2]
