EDWARD WHITLEY BARBER entered the service of Mr. William H. Fowler in 1892.

When Mr. Fowler founded The Mechanical Engineer he joined the staff and at the time of his death on 4th July 1927 was one of the principal office assistants.

Mr. Barber was trained in the works and drawing office of Messrs. W. F. Mason of Manchester.

He became a Graduate of the Institution in 1894 and an Associate Member in 1900.
