"EDWARD WILLIAM REYNOLDS was associated with H.M. Dockyards from 1891, when he began to serve his apprentice. ship, until his retirement in 1937. He received his education at the Portsmouth Municipal Technical College and on the conclusion of his practical training in 1898 successively became fitter, draughtsman, and inspector in the engineering department. In 1906 he was made a first-class draughtsman, in which capacity he was employed for nine years. After acting as foreman of the engineering branch at Portsmouth Dockyard from 1915 to 1924 he joined the staff of the Admiralty as examiner of dockyard work.
His final position, which dated from 1934, was that of engineer assistant to the director of dockyards. Mr. Reynolds, whose death in his seventy-third year, occurred on 22nd September 1948, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1912 and was transferred to Membership in 1919. He was also senior lecturer on engineering subjects at the Portsmouth Municipal College of Technology from 1906 to 1924."
