Edwin Danks (1839-1915) founder of Edwin Danks and Co (Oldbury)
Born the son of Joseph Danks, a Publican, and his wife Elizabeth Cutler.
1850s It is said that Edwin had a dispute with his father and brothers during the mid 1850's, was given £3,000 and told to go and farm sheep in Australia.
C.1862 Returned from Australia and started the business
1881 Living at Quinton, Warley Wigorn: Edwin Danks (age 41 born Rowley), Boiler Manufacturer. With his wife Elizabeth and adopted nephew and niece.[1]
1911 Living at Apsley House, Quinton, Birmingham: Edwin Danks (age 71 born Rowley Regis), Retired Boiler Manufacturer and Widower.[2]
1915 Died. 'The death announced to-day, at the age of 75, of Mr. Edwin Danks, J.P., of Quinton. was the founder of the firm of Edwin Danks and Co., boiler-makers, of Oldbury, pioneers of large boilers. retired from the firm in 1896.'[3]
