EDWIN ERNEST BISSELL was in the employ of Messrs. Tangyes of Birmingham for over thirty-five years. During the early part of his career he was engaged in general engineering work, but eventually devoted himself to pumping plants and machinery, and he carried out considerable research work in connexion with centrifugal pumps.

During the War he carried out many important oil-pumping installations on the East Coast, and he was responsible for the design and installation of large electrically-driven dock pumps in South Wales.

For the past ten years he had represented Messrs. Tangyes in the North of England.

Mr. Bissell had been a Member of the Institution since 1914, and his death occurred on 29th April 1931.
