Elihu Thomson

Professor Elihu Thompson (1853-1937)
Born in Manchester, England, 29th March 1853, the son of Daniel and Mary Rhodes Thomson. The family emigrated to the USA when Elihu was 5, and they settled in Philadelphia. He became a professor at 23. He joined Edward J. Houston to found the Thomson-Houston Electric Company, which later became the General Electric Co. He held over 700 American patents. He died in March 1937.[1]
