Ernest Tom Waldron was born in 1888, and was educated at Ardingly College and Reading University College. His apprenticeship was served in the engineering department of Huntley and Palmers Reading, and later with the Reading Electric Supply Co and the British Motor and Engineering Co.
He then became charge hand in the repair department of Humber, and later assistant manager of the Theale Motor and Engineering Co and director of the Hants Motor and Engineering Co at Aldershot.
Throughout the war he served as Workshops Officer in the Mechanical Transport in France. After demobilisation, he took charge of the maintenance and repairs department of the Milton Depot of the R.A.F., and was subsequently appointed. engineer in charge of maintenance with the Thundersley, Hadleigh and District Motors, Leigh-on-Sea, which position he held up to the time of his death in February, 1925.
He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1922.
