1922 Mr Rubenstein of Swansea and employer of Essar Ltd, a new wall paper manufacturers, just opened at 135 Newington Causeway.[1]

1926 Fire. 'Two firemen standing, outside the Tooley street Fire Station, who saw flames coming from the basement window in a four-storey factory on the other side of the road, rang their own fire alarm end turned out the fire brigade. The lower floors of the factory are by Messrs. Essar, Ltd., wallpaper manufacturers, and hundreds of rolls of wallpaper were destroyed'.[2]

1928 Acquired by Amalgamated Wallpaper Mills.[3]
