BARTLEET, Eustace John, Captain, Royal Engineers (retired), Mining Engineer; b. 1896 at Redditch, s. of Ernest Bartleet. B.Sc., Birmingham, 1923; Associate Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1930. Educ.: King Edward VI's High School, New Street, Birmingham, Municipal Technical School, Birmingham, Birmingham University, and School of Metalliferous Mining, Camborne, Cornwall; Railway and road construction and mining with B.E.F., France; Engineering Instructor, Royal Air Force, 1924-27; Technical Teacher, Egyptian Government Service, 1923-24; Surveyor, tin mine, Northern Nigeria, 1927-28; Chief Engineer to H.I.H. Haile Selassie, Emperor of Abyssinia, in charge of the construction Djimmah Motor Road, Addis Ababa; Manager of the Hakim Warkerne and Fitarauri Deressa Gold and Platinum Concessions, Walega, Western Abyssinia, 1928-30; Taquah and Abosso Mines, Gold Coast, West Africa, 1935-36.
