A British engineer who emigrated to Germany during the Industrial Revolution

Born 4th August 1765 at Llanelltyd, North Wales, died 9th December 1844 at Siebenhöfen bei Geyer/Erzgebirge.

He was a pioneer of large scale mechanized textile spinning in Saxony, and an inventor and manufacturer of various machine tools. He is credited with the invention of the spindle sander (Spindelschleifmaschine) for which he won an award from the Saxon government.
