Excelsior was established in 1897, and is now one of Europe's leading rotational moulders and manufacturers of fabricated products. Originally set up by two Swiss businessmen, Excelsior, which is owned and run by the Fielding family, became a limited company in 1902 and specialised in the manufacture of vulcanised fibre containers for the then thriving textile industry.

Excelsior continued to manufacture fibre boxes and containers, and in the 1970's also began to manufacture rotationally moulded plastic trucks which were, and still are, supplied to all of the major UK and European mail order catalogues and franchisees, including leading names such as Kaiser Kraft, Key Industrial and Welconstruct.
