After the Hargreaves, Sir John Thursby became Governing Director.

1901 On Sir John's death[1], Richard Landless became Governing Director and Chairman. The collieries employ about 3,300 hands.

c.1929 Merged with George Hargreaves and Co of Rossendale and Accrington[2]; 13 pits were owned with 3,900 employees[3]
