Express Dairy Co

The company was founded by George TituS Barham in 1864 as the Express County Milk Supply Co, named after the fact that they only used express trains to get their milk to London.
The major creamery and milk bottling plant was located just south of South Acton railway station on the North London Line. This gave easy and equal access for milk trains from both the Great Western Railway and the Southern Railway.
By 1894 it was known as the Express Dairy Co, and had a large retail business in London from its farms, including one at Finchley[1]
1949 The Express Dairy Co (London) Ltd was incorporated to carry on the business of dairy business, dairy farmers and refreshment room proprietors.
1950 Dissolution of the Partnership between Express Dairy Company Limited and Express Dairy Company (London) Limited carrying on business in the wholesale and retail distribution and sale of dairy products and the provision of catering services under the style of EXPRESS DAIRY COMPANY at Tavistock Place London W.C.1. [2]
1969 The Express Dairy Co/Express Dairies was bought by Grand Metropolitan[3][4]
