Fred Cooper (1852-1935)
1852 March 13th. Frederick Cooper was born in Clerkenwell, London, the son of Joseph Cooper, a Victualler, and Eleanor his wife
1871 Living at High Street Sheffield.
1873 He was of The White Bear, High Street, Sheffield, son of a Sheffield hotel proprietor.
1874 February. Fred Cooper beat James Moore by two yards in the one mile race and won £100, a large sum of money at the time. His time was 3 minutes 9 seconds.
1874 November. Married Ellen Clarke at St John's Park Church, Sheffield. Following the death of his wife Ellen in childbirth in 1875 after only 3 months of marriage Fred moved away from Sheffield. He left his daughter behind and she was brought up by Ellen's parents.
1877 He joined with Thomas Humber and Thomas Rushforth Marriott to form Humber, Marriott and Cooper
1881 Living at 78 Richmond Road, Kensington: Frederick Cooper (29 born London), a Bicycle Manufacturer and a Widower.[1]
1885 Humber left the company and it became Marriott and Cooper
1891 Living at Chomley Terrace, Long Ditton, Kingston-upon-Thames: Frederick Cooper (age 39 born London), a Cycle Importer. Also a housekeeper and her three daughters.[2]
1901 Living at Frensham, Albany Park Rd, Kingston-upon-Thames: Frederick Cooper (age 49 born Clerkenwell), a Retired Cycle Manufacturer. With his wife Ellen Cooper (age 33 born Marylebone). Also his in-laws.[3]
1911 Living at Frensham, Albany Park Rd, Kingston-upon-Thames: Frederick Cooper (age 59 born St. Lukes, London), No occupation. With his wife (married 11 years no children) Ellen Amelia Cooper (age 43 born London). [4]
