1919 Founded his own company dealing with high vacuum with William Edwards in Allendale Road, Camberwell, South London helped by his wife - Edwards Equipment and Services; this was the start of a new industry in the UK. The business later became Edwards High Vacuum
Founder member of the Worshipful Company of Scientific Instrument Makers
1958-9 Master of the Worshipful Company
1966 Died at home in Horley
