1857 Established by Francis Ritson and William Ritson. In 1881 the Nautilus Steam Shipping Co Limited was incorporated under the management of the firm. In 1899 this Company's steamers entered into the regular line running between Liverpool and Glasgow and West Coast of South America, under title of Gulf Line, and in 1907 the firm became principals of this line.
