Fern Mill, Shaw

From Graces Guide
Buckley and Taylor engine, formely at Fern Mill, now at Ellenroad Steam Museum

of Shaw, Oldham.

  • The mill's 1884 horizontal twin tandem compound engine, made by Buckley and Taylor, was removed for preservation. It languished in secure (but open) storage until November 2011, when the parts were recovered for preservation at Ellenroad Mill. The story is told in a well-illustrated article in 'Old Glory' magazine [1].
