FOSTER CROWELL, born on the 13th October, 1848, died at Flushing, Pennsylvania, on the 29th March, 1915.
After serving on the engineering staff at Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, he was attached to the U.S. Government Surveys for the Nicaragua Canal route. Subsequently he was principal Assistant Engineer for the Centennial Exhibition, Construction Engineer to the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, and as a Consulting Engineer in New York carried on an extensive practice in connection with railways, bridges, tunnels, water-supply, municipal and other work. He was a member and director of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
He was elected a Member of this Institution on the 2nd May, 1893
