FRANCIS EDWARD DAVIES was in business on his own account as a consulting engineer in London for many years.
He was born in Kensington in 1873 and was educated privately. From 1892 to 1896 he studied engineering at the City and Guilds of London Institute, and in the latter year he became a pupil in the Pimlico works of Messrs. James Simpson and Company, Ltd. After completing his training in 1899 he was engaged by the firm as a draughtsman.
Subsequently he was appointed chief draughtsman and assistant engineer to the Pirrie Transformer Company, Ltd., London.
He later became supervising engineer to the Gwelyn Consolidated Tin Mines, Ltd., Cornwall, a position which he held until he took up his consulting work.
During the War he joined the R.N.V.R., with which he served until 1919, when he returned to his business in London.
His death occurred in London on 15th July 1936.
He was elected to Associate Membership of the Institution in 1901, and he was also an Associate Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers.
