1871 Admiralty Assistant Surveyor; became an Associate of the Inst of Civil Engineers

c.1877 Proposed an opening bridge across The Thames in which the roadway would be carried by two movable platforms, placed some distance apart, one of which would be in position for the road traffic, even whilst a vessel was passing through the other.
