1819 Born in Dundalk

Made his name as an Arctic explorer, especially in command of HMS Intrepid

c.1856-9 Commanded the yacht Fox searching the North-West Passage for Franklin's missing expedition. Received many honours in acknowledgement.

Commanded HMS Aurora in the North Sea during the war between Denmark and Prussia, especially by influencing activities around Heligoland.

1872-7 Commander of Portsmouth Dockyard

1907 Died in London[1]
