1843 Formed a partnership with another Quaker, William Bryant, to establish a Provisions Merchants business in Tooley Street, London.

1851 Francis May 47 Visitor, son in law, to Sarah Holmes 76, widow, and William Holmes 46 Son, in Alton. Francis was a general merchant, employing 15 people at Tooley Street, London[2]

1861 Francis May 57, general merchant, lived in Reigate Foreign with Jane May 58, Sarah J May 32, William H May 21, Samuel T May 18[3]
