1920 Died. 'DEATH OF MR F. MILTON. Former Churchwarden at Witley. Widespread has been occasioned in the district by the death which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning at his residence, Hill Place, Haslemere, of Mr Frank Milton managing director of the well-known firm Messrs F Milton and Sons Ltd builders and contractors of Witley. Deceased who was years of age a native of Witley and had resided in the parish all his life until he removed to Haslemere eight years ago. It was nearly 40 ago when he established the successful business with which his name is associated. Several years ago he took into partnership with him his sons Mr J. R. Milton of Witley and Mr R. J. Milton of Milford. Prior to his removal to Haslemere the late Mr Milton was for many years a churchwarden at Witley Church, where at the service on Sunday morning the Vicar (the Rev E J Newill) paid a warm tribute to life and work of the deceased. As a mark of respect the flag on the church tower was flown at half-mast. A staunch Unionist, he was held in high esteem by all classes and for considerable number of years was a valued member of Witley Parish Council on which his son Mr J R Milton is at present serving. The deceased leaves a widow, two sons and two daughters. One of the latter a time ago married Capt Buckingham the Australian RAF and recently proceeded to Australia. The other daughter is also married and resides at Littlehampton.'[1]
