Then Elec. Supt. of the Union Govt. Rlys., Harbours and Telegraphs, until 1918
c.1918 Entered into Partnership with W. Hudson, as Hudson & Pickering
WWI on Staff of Sir William Morris, C.R.E. Major Commanding Cape Fortress Engrs.
1922 Partner, Hudson & Pickering, Cape Town;
