Frank Silvester Anstey (1898- ) of Hanford Garage

Born Birmingham 1898. Educated Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent Polytechnics and in 1912 became apprenticed to the Beresford Engineering Co. In 1916 joined Royal Flying Corps. Trained as Aeronautical Engineer. Passed Practical and Technical Examinations for Master Mechanic. Promoted and served in Russia, France etc. Mentioned in despatches and awarded Order of St. Ann. Called up in 1940—Officers' Emergency Reserve. Served at home and in Far East as O.M.E. in Royal Ordnance Corps and in R.E.M.E. Demobbed in 1945 with rank of Major.

1953 Chairman, Hanford Garage Ltd., Stoke-on-Trent. Is an active member of Institute of Motor Industry: Member of Institution of British Engineers : Member of Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
