FREDERICK WYLES was a native of Kent, and studied engineering work at Rochester and Chatham.
Upon the recommendation of Sir William Preece, he was appointed Assistant Telegraph Engineer to the London and South-Western Railway Company in succession to Mr. A. R. M. Simkins, on October 1, 1883. For seventeen years he distinguished himself by a comprehensive thoroughness in his work, combined with an earnestness and amiability which won for him the esteem of all with whom he came in contact.
