Frederick Arthur Clark was born in 1884, and received his technical education at Northampton Polytechnic Institute.

He served his apprenticeship with James Shoolbred and Co, and subsequently remained with the firm as Engineer and eventually Chief Engineer.

He died on 29th August, 1939, at the age of 55.

He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1915.
