Frederick Jefferson (c1877-1940)

1940 Died. 'Mr. Frederick Jefferson, chairman and managing director of Kenrick and Jefferson Ltd., printers and commercial stationery and equipment manufacturers, of West Bromwich and Temple Street, Birmingham, died suddenly to-day at Maidenhead. He was 63. He became ill three years ago, but on the outbreak of war felt himself sufficiently well to return to his West Bromwich factory. All his working life Mr. Fred Jefferson had been devoted to the undertaking which his father, the late Mr. F. T. Jefferson, and the late Mr. John Arthur Kenrick, founded in 1878, and he played a big part in its development into a concern employing over 1,000 hands, and sending its products all over the world. For some years he and his brother, Mr. Edward Jefferson, were joint managing directors, and in 1933 Mr. Fred Jefferson was appointed chairman of the directors on the death of Alderman J. Archibald Kenrick, He was also a director of the associated firm of Kingfisher, Ltd. His chief recreation was golf, and over a long period he was a familiar figure on the course of the Sandwell Park club. He leaves two sons and three daughters.'[1]
