Able Seaman Frederick Pullen, HMS Actaeon, Service No. J/388, secured his place in aviation history by being the first 'ground crew' casualty-he was pulling the chocks away from a Short bi-plane piloted by Lieutenant Reginald Gregory when he was struck by the propeller and killed. He was 20.
