1906 Presented a Paper on the salvage of ships to Liverpool Engineering Society

1919-20 Commodore Young was in charge of the salvage of the wreckage of the submarine HMS Vindictive from Ostend harbour[1]

Post-WWI: Sir F. W. Young was awarded £5000 by the Royal Commission on Awards to Inventors for the "Standard Patch"[2]
