Frederick William (John) Halliwell CBE

1894 8th November: Born[1] in Brighton

1911 Frederick G Halliwell 51, traveller in the cycle trade, lived in Coventry with Kate Halliwell 51, Frederick W Halliwell 16, Engineer Draughtsman in auto machinery, Charles V Halliwell 14, worked in a chemical laboratory at motor works, Stanley G Halliwell 13, Herbert F Halliwell 6[2]

Pre-WWI occupation: automobile designer[3]

1915 Enlisted in the Navy; served on HMS President II; later in RFC, Service Number: 205568, Father: Frederick Halliwell[4]

1918 Married Ivy Collins in London[5]

1923 Left Swift and joined Marseal as Works Manager. Designed the 10 h.p. Swift car.

c.1925 Marseal closed

1937 Joined Inst Mechanical Engineers[6]

1939 Chartered mechanical engineer, managing director jig and tool manufacturer, lived in Brentford, Middx., with Ivy C Halliwell 45[7]

1955 President of the Gauge and Tool Makers' Association. He was awarded a CBE[8]

1988 Died in Torquay age 93[9]
