G. B. Kent and Sons Ltd, manufacturers of brushes since the eighteenth century, is one of the oldest established companies in Great Britain.
- 1777 Kent Brushes was founded by William Kent, in the reign of George III. Kent holds a place in the history of brush making, with an unbroken record of production which has been recognised by the granting of Royal Warrants for nine reigns.
- 1900 The company was registered on 2 July, to acquire the business of brush manufacturers of the firm of the same name. [1]
- 1922 Listed Exhibitor - British Industries Fair. Manufacturers of Best British Brushes of every description. (Stand No. B.42) [2]
- 1929 Listed Exhibitor - British Industries Fair. Manufacturers of Best British Brushes of every description. (Stand No. PO.11) [3]
- The Kent family continued to run the company for six generations until 1932 when the last of the three Kent brothers passed away. This is when Mr Eric L. H. Cosby, owner of Cosby Brushes, entered into an association with G. B. Kent and Sons.
- 1932 A new chapter was then opened in Kent's long history, and since that time the company has been under the direction of the Cosby family.
- 1947 Listed Exhibitor - British Industries Fair. Manufacturers of Toilet Brushes including the well known Kent-Cosby "Allure" Perfume Hair Brush. "Non-Slip" Nail Brush and "White-Knight" Shaving Brush. Also Tooth, Household and painting Brushes of every description. (Olympia, Ground Floor, Stand No. A.1296) [4]
- 1984 The company headquarters moved from London to their existing factory in Apsley, Hertfordshire, and remains there to this day.
