GERALD BOURCHIER SHERARD WREY, fifth son of the late Sir Henry Bourchier Wrey, Bart., of Tawstock Court, Devon, was born on the 12th December, 1870.
After being educated at Blundell’s School, Tiverton, he became a student at the Royal Indian Engineering College, Coopers Hill.
On leaving the College in 1892 he joined the engineering staff of Henry Lovatt, contractor, under whom he was engaged on the Trent and Redhill widening, the Knighton second tunnel, and the Ampthill tunnel, all for the Midland Railway Company, and on the new jetty and other works at Portsmouth Dockyard.
In 1895 he went to Assam as an Assistant Engineer on the Assam-Bengal Railway, and in 1899 he was appointed to a similar post on the East India Railway.
Mr. Wrey died at Mussoorie on the 9th September, 1902, from enteric fever.
He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution on the 14th January, 1896.
