George Cochrane Godfrey (1871-1945)

Born the son of George Cochrane and his wife Hester Ann

Educated Warrenspoint, Co. Down. School, Harrow and Cambridge University

Appointed to Bengal-Nagpur Railway, 1895; General Manager, 1911-25. Coal Controller for India, 1917-19. On Indian Railway Committee, 1921; Howrah Bridge Committee, 1922. Member, Legislative Council of Bengal, 1923-5. On Indian Council of State, 1928-30. Partner, Bird and Co., Calcutta, 1925-31. Knighted, 1919. Of 86, Rivermead Court, Ranelagh Gardens, London, in 1940. .
