1892 Signal Engineer on the North Western Railway of India commenced working on his signal interlocking system and in 1894 with A. Morse introduced the 'List and Morse' system.[1]
1894 List and Morse interlocking system was first installed at 28 crossing stations between Lahore and Ghaziabad
1900 'The Government of India has sanctioned a bonus of Rs. 10,000 to Mr. G. H. List, late Chief Engineer, North-Western Railway, and Mr A. Morse, now officiating Chief Engineer, North-Western Railway, for a system of interlocking points and signals known as "List and Morse patent system of interlocking." This system has been in use now for some years past on the North-Western Railway, and been the means of saving much money heretofore lost in damages to the permanent way and rolling stock through trains running foul on account of the carelessness of pointsmen. The system is to be adopted on all the railways in India, as it has been found to be a perfect arrangement for the purpose. '[2]
