1981 Douglas Hall retired from the company he had established

1982 The Watford factory was closed and the work transferred to Rugby. GEC's strategy for robots concentrated on licencing Japanese and other robots.

1983 A division of GEC Electrical Projects, manufacturing its own hydraulically operated robots - the RAMP and CompArm product range.[1]

Distributors for the paint finishing industries were Binks-Bullows.
