1936 John Clifford Garrett founded a company in Los Angeles

1939 Garrett incorporated the Garrett Corporation with 3 divisions:

1939 Garrett established a small research laboratory to conduct "air research" on the development of pressurized flight for passenger aircraft - this became AiResearch's first 'lab'.

1966 The Garrett Corporation took a 48 percent shareholding in the Normalair company, which was subsequently renamed Normalair-Garrett Limited.[1]

1974 Invested in gas turbines for heavy trucks.[2]
