Geoffrey Bowman Jenkins

Geoffrey Bowman Jenkins was responsible for making an ever changing range of products from 1917 until his death in 1959.

1891 Born in Hinkley, Leics.[1], son of Sidney and Annie Louisa Jenkins; Sidney was the manager of a clothiers[2]

1911 Geoffrey Bowman Jenkins 19, warehouseman, lived in Luton with his mother Annie Louisa Jenkins 52, Susan Bassant 34[3]

1917 Jenkins initially made simple wooden toys.

His toys eventually included stationary steam engines, boats, locomotives and Pyruma Cement animals.

Then formed the Woodcraft Patents Co

1922 Commenced making items for Hobbies Dereham Ltd

Was associated with Worboys and Smart

Formed Bowman Models

1931 he marketed the Domex safety razor strop

1932 Introduced his famous Kavor water motor driven toothbrush.

1930s Diversified into furniture production; with wife Edith, he invented the famous Jentique name - see Jenkins Productions Ltd

1936 Partnership with Hobbies came to an end

1950s With son Max, he manufactured the sought-after range of Bowman Racing Yachts - Bowman Jenkins

1959 Died in North Walsham. On his father's death, Max continued trading under the Bowman Jenkins name until 1982.
