GEORGE ALBERT HUTCHINS, 6orn 12th November, 1841, at East Bridgford, Notts., died 18th December, 1916.
He was educated at Magdalen College School, Oxford, and afterwards articled to the late John Wright, M.Inst.C.E., under whom, and the late Joseph Cubitt, M.Inst.C.E., he worked on several of the Welsh, the Great Northern, and other railways.
In 1867 he was appointed executive engineer of the Madras Irrigation and Canal Company.
In 1872 he became chief engineer of the Rio Cobre Canal Works in Jamaica.
From 1877 to 1887 he was engineer-in-charge of the waterworks, sewerage and other works of the Borough of Carmarthen. He then became County Surveyor for Cardiganshire, and in 1890 for Montgomeryshire.
He was elected an Associate Member 5th February, 1867, and transferred to the class of Members 23rd December, 1873.
