1920 Died. 'Sincere regret will be expressed at the death of Mr. G. A. Royce, a former Alderman of the Leicester Council, which took place at his home, "Brentwood," Knighton Rise, about 10.15 yesterday morning. The illness of the deceased gentleman was only of short duration. George Appelbee Royce was the son of Mr. David Royce of Nottingham, and was born in 1848. He was educated at Belper School, and commenced busyness as a boot manufacturer at Mansfield, Notts; but when the trade was transferred to Leicester he came to this city and founded the firm of Messrs. Royce, Gascoine, and Co. In 1889 he entered the Town . Council as Liberal member for West St. Mary's...'[1]
