WE have learned with regret of the death of Mr. George Charles Hodsdon, which occurred recently, after a short illness at his home at Shepherds Lane, Dartford.
Mr. Hodsdon joined the firm of J. and E. Hall, Ltd., Dartford, as an apprentice in 1887, and spent nearly the whole of his working life with that company.
He became chief designer of J. and E. Hall, Ltd., in 1907, ancl in that capacity took a major part in the development of refrigerating machinery from the early days, first, with the cold air machines and C02 machines, and later machines using ammonia, and the Freon group.
Mr. Hodsdon was elected an associate member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in 1901 and a full member in 1913. He was also an active member of the Institute of Refrigeration, on the council of which he served for many years.
