GEORGE CLARK, Jun., was chairman and managing director of Messrs. George Clark (1936), Ltd., marine engineers, of Southwick, Sunderland. The firm was originally founded in 1850 by his grandfather, whilst his father, Mr. George Clark, Sen., M.I.Mech.E., was for many years manager of the works. Mr. George Clark, Jun., was born in 1865 and was educated at Repton and the University of Glasgow. He served his apprenticeship from 1883 to 1888 in his father's works and was then made assistant manager. In 1911 he joined Messrs. Richardsons, Westgarth and Company, Ltd., as marine engine sales manager, and was appointed a director of the firm in 1918. He returned to Messrs. Clark's works at Southwick in 1930 as general manager and held this position until 1936, when the firm was reconstituted. He was elected a Member of the Institution in 1896 and was also a Member of the Institution of Naval Architects. His death occurred at Seaton Carew, on 21st January 1937.
