1905 'Sir George Cotton took a very important part in the building up of the cotton spinning industry in India, which was in its early infancy when he went out to Bombay 42 years age. His business abilities soon attracted the attention of the late James Greaves, who took him into partnership in founding the firms of Greaves, Cotton and Co., Bombay, and James Greaves and Co., Manchester. In course of time the firm started or secured the agency for ten or twelve mills and now has under its control some 300,000 Indian spindles.....'[1]
