George Daniels (watchmaker)

From Graces Guide

George Daniels, CBE, FBHI, FSA, AHCI (19 August 1926 – 21 October 2011) was an English horologist, and inventor of the coaxial escapement. [1]

See here for a photo of Daniels' electrically powered demonstration model of the co-axial escapement, built c.1985 to demonstrate his newly invented escapement and ‘to capture the attention of the Swiss industry’. The escapement suffers virtually no sliding friction and so requires minimal lubrication. The Swiss watchmakers, Omega, have adopted it. [2]
